Before an early flight
The free hotel shuttle runs to Terminals 1 and 3 from 6 AM. Book a pick-up time by phone the day before, and plan a taxi if your flight leaves before the first run fits. Our shuttle page has the stops and the booking rules.

A 400-room hotel in north Etobicoke, built into a casino resort that shares its grounds with Woodbine Racetrack and sits, in the operator's words, “just minutes from Toronto Pearson Airport”. We cover it for people who need a bed between flights, a base for a race day, or a room after a show — and our desk can check dates and rates for you.

Most hotels near Toronto Pearson sell themselves on distance alone. This one has a second argument: it is part of a large resort with restaurants open late, a theatre the operator rates at 4,000-plus for concerts, and a racetrack next door, so a forced overnight does not have to mean a vending-machine dinner. The operator's July 2023 press release set the hotel's opening for 1 August 2023, so the rooms are only a little over three years old. The guest-room list on the operator's hotel page is nearly identical across categories: blackout curtains, climate control, free Wi-Fi, a desk with a laptop-compatible safe, a coffee and tea maker, free bottled water and a mini fridge.
It is also a casino resort, and that shapes the stay more than the brochure language suggests. Reservations can only be made by guests aged 19 or older. Children may stay, but they cannot enter the gaming floor or the restaurants located on it — and on this property that covers most of the food. We say more about that on the food and drink and before-you-book pages, because it is the detail families most often learn too late.

The last shuttle window closes at 9 PM. Land later and you will need a taxi or ride-share for the short drive. Check-in begins at 4 PM, so a morning arrival needs a plan for the hours before the room is ready.
Watching live racing at Woodbine is free except on King's Plate day, and Woodbine's calendar listed race days until 29 November 2026. Some rooms face the track — see Woodbine.
The Theatre is reached from the hotel lobby elevators for guests of all ages. Dates we have checked are on theatre and events.
Two Queen rooms sleep four, the 2 Bedroom Suite sleeps six. Read the family policy first: under-16s need an adult who is actively supervising, and an adult who is gambling does not count.
Up to two pets per room, cats and dogs only, each up to 50 lb, with a $49 nightly fee plus a one-time $49 cleaning fee (plus tax). Details in our journal note.
The hotel charges a resort fee of $19.99 plus tax per night. Self-parking in the 3,800-space covered garage is free; valet runs about $20 Monday to Thursday and about $30 Friday to Sunday, card only. Pet fees are listed above. We do not print room rates: they move daily, and the only honest number is the one our desk confirms for your dates. The full breakdown is on parking and fees.
The resort address is 1133 Queens Plate Dr, Toronto, ON M9W 0G4. The hotel entrance is on Dance Smartly Boulevard, just south of the Expansion Casino, with Woodbine Racetrack to the south of the property. Six of the eight categories the hotel publishes are listed at 388 square feet: two kings, two double-queen rooms and two accessible rooms. The names split them into “Premium” and “Racetrack”. Two suites sit above them — a Corner Suite for up to four and a 2 Bedroom Suite for up to six, both with a refrigerator and microwave.
Send the form at the bottom of any page with your dates, the number of travellers and the room you want. We check availability and the current rate with the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and reply by email. We never ask for a card number, and nothing is booked until you say yes. If the stay goes ahead, the hotel or the partner pays us a commission — how we earn explains it in full.
This is not the hotel's website. The operator's own site is greatcanadian.com; its reservations line is 1-888-399-4998.
