A layover with a dog or cat: the hotel's pet rules in practice

The rules, as published

The hotel takes up to two pets per room, cats and dogs only, each up to 50 lb. It charges a nightly accommodation fee of $49 and a one-time cleaning fee of $49, plus tax. Service animals are not charged fees, but a cleaning fee can apply if there is soiling or damage. Pets must be leashed or in a carrier in public areas and may not be left alone in the room — the house rules extend that to vehicles on the property. Pets are not allowed on the gaming floor (service animals excepted), in food and beverage areas, in the pool area or in the fitness centre. Room cleaning has to be scheduled for a time when you and the animal are out. The house rules also ask that pets be well-behaved and vaccinated.

What that means on a layover

• You cannot leave the pet to go to dinner. With pets barred from food and beverage areas and not allowed to be left alone, plan to eat in turns, or pick up food from the lobby and eat in the room.
• You cannot leave it in the car either.
• Housekeeping needs an appointment. On a one-night stay that rarely matters; on a two-night layover, set a time at check-in.
• Count the cost. One night with one pet adds $98 before tax; two nights, $147.

Getting the animal to the airport

The hotel does not say whether pets may ride the free airport shuttle. Ask when you book the pick-up on 437-428-6329, and have a taxi or ride-share that accepts animals as your fallback. The separate Casino Shuttle accepts service animals.

Outside

The property is large and car-oriented; there is no published pet-relief area. Bring bags, keep to public areas, and ask the front desk where guests usually walk dogs.
