House rules, decoded
Before you book: the rules that change a stay here
Every hotel has small print. This one has more than most because it sits inside a casino resort. These are the rules we think every guest should read before paying anything.
- Who can book
- 19 or older
- At check-in
- Photo ID + home address
- Free cancellation
- Until 24 h before check-in*
- Smoking / vaping
- $1,000 fee + eviction
1. Only adults can hold the booking
The hotel's FAQ answers “Who can make a reservation?” with “Anyone 19 or older.” The house rules add that at registration the primary guest must be at least 19, show valid government-issued photo ID and give the address of their usual residence. A guest who cannot do all three has the reservation cancelled without a refund and is charged a one-night penalty. If you are booking for a 19- or 20-year-old, make sure they carry ID that shows their age.
2. Cancellation: 24 hours, unless your confirmation says otherwise
“Unless otherwise stated in the reservation confirmation, a reservation must be cancelled 24 hours prior to check-in time” — check-in time being 4 PM — to avoid a charge of one night plus tax. Prepaid or discounted rates may carry different terms, which is why our desk sends you the conditions of the rate it finds before you agree to anything.
3. Card holds and deposits
Credit cards are pre-authorised at check-in for the full stay plus a security or incidental amount. The hotel reminds guests that it is their job to know how long their bank keeps such a hold. Paying by cash or debit is possible, but the rules ask for the full stay in advance plus a deposit of up to 50 per cent of the total room charge. Cheques are not accepted. A booking that is not prepaid has to be guaranteed with a valid credit card.
4. The resort fee
A resort fee of $19.99 plus tax is charged per night. Rates are quoted in Canadian dollars and are subject to taxes, surcharges and fees. When we quote a rate, we tell you whether the resort fee is included in the figure or added at the desk.
5. Fully smoke-free, with real penalties
The hotel and its rooms are smoke-free — including cannabis, medical or recreational, e-cigarettes and vaping. A first violation brings a $1,000 cleaning fee, immediate eviction and a ban of up to three months; a second, the same fee and a ban of up to a year. The Theatre has a designated outdoor smoking section, and that is the only on-site smoking spot the operator mentions.
6. Children: allowed, with conditions
Children may stay but cannot enter any 19+ area, including the gaming floor and the restaurants on it. Under-16s need a 19+ parent or guardian who is actively supervising them in all non-gaming areas; 16- to 18-year-olds may move around those areas alone if a 19+ guardian is on the property and reachable. A guardian who is gambling is not considered to be supervising. In the pool, sauna and gym areas, under-12s must be with someone aged 16 or older.
7. Pets
Two pets per room, cats and dogs only, up to 50 lb each. The fees are $49 per night plus a one-time $49 cleaning fee, plus tax. Service animals pay no fees but can be charged the cleaning fee for soiling or damage. Pets must be leashed or carried in public areas, never left alone in the room or in a vehicle, and are not allowed on the gaming floor (service animals excepted), in food and beverage areas, in the pool area or the fitness centre.
8. Housekeeping and privacy
The hotel will honour a do-not-disturb sign for up to 24 consecutive hours, after which management may enter. Lost property is kept for a maximum of 30 days and then donated — worth knowing if you leave a charger behind on a stopover.
9. No weapons anywhere, including your car
Firearms, weapons, ammunition and replicas are banned in the hotel and its facilities, including in vehicles parked on the property.
10. Driving in? Bring your plate number
Guests who park on site must give the make, model and licence plate of their vehicle at check-in.
* “Unless otherwise stated in the reservation confirmation” — always read the terms of the specific rate.
