Verdict: a strong Pearson overnight, with casino-resort strings attached

- Think twice
- Families who want to eat together on site
- Opening
- Announced for 1 Aug 2023
- Fee to expect
- Resort fee $19.99 + tax / night
The short version
If your problem is a night near Toronto Pearson, this hotel solves it better than most of the airport strip. The rooms are newer than the competition's, the shuttle to Terminals 1 and 3 is free, parking is free, and you can eat dinner at a proper steakhouse or a late gastropub instead of in your room. If your problem is a family weekend in Toronto, the answer is less clear: the best food on the property is on the gaming floor, closed to anyone under 19, and the hotel itself says reservations are for adults.
What it does well
Newness and a consistent room
The operator announced the hotel's opening for 1 August 2023. Six of its eight room types share one published footprint, 388 square feet, and one amenity list: blackout curtains, a laptop workspace, a laptop-compatible safe, a coffee and tea maker, a mini fridge, LED TV and free Wi-Fi. That sameness is good news for a layover traveller. You do not need to study floor plans; you need to choose between one king and two queens, and decide whether the racetrack view matters.
The airport link is free and published
Many airport hotels describe a shuttle in a sentence. This one publishes the hours (6 AM to 12 PM and 3 PM to 9 PM), the exact kerbside pick-up points at each terminal and the booking phone number, and says hotel guests get priority. That is enough to plan around, which is the whole point.
Things to do between flights
A taxi to downtown for a two-hour visit rarely makes sense. Here you can watch live racing next door for free on race days, see a concert in a theatre the operator rates at 4,000-plus, swim, sit in a sauna or eat Teochew noodles at Lobster Legend, which is open to all ages. For a stopover, that is an unusual amount of choice within walking distance of your bed.
Where it falls short
The 19+ line runs through dinner
Copperhorn, Casual, Chopsticks Noodlehouse, Pizzaiolo, the Northern Lights Bar and the food hall are all 19+. The all-ages options we could confirm are Lobster Legend Noodle Bar and the Lobby Bar Grab & Go. If you are travelling with teenagers, plan meals around those two.
The shuttle has a gap and an early cut-off
There is no service between noon and 3 PM, and none after 9 PM or before 6 AM. Reviewers on Priceline mention being caught out by the evening cut-off. For a red-eye or a midnight landing, budget for a taxi.
Arrival can be slow in 2026
Since July 2026 the property has been dealing with a labour dispute involving its security officers. The operator's notice of 2 October 2026 says vehicles are let through the picket line at least every three minutes and that the hotel, casino and restaurants operate as usual. Several Trip.com reviews from the summer describe long waits at the entrance. We would add thirty minutes of slack to any plan that ends at a check-in desk or a departure gate until the dispute is over. Our journal note tracks what the operator says.
Some details are not published
The hotel does not publish pool or gym hours, room-service hours, the size of its suites, or whether the “Racetrack” room types are guaranteed a track view (their cards on the hotel page carry a “City View” label). We ask on your behalf when you send a request.
Book it if…
- you have an early departure or late arrival at Pearson and want a newer room with free parking;
- you are coming for a show at The Theatre and want to walk back to your room afterwards;
- you want a race-day weekend at Woodbine without driving home;
- you are travelling with a dog or cat up to 50 lb and the pet fees work for you.
Think twice if…
- you are a family who wants to eat every meal together on site;
- you land after 9 PM and do not want to pay for a taxi;
- you need a spa — the amenities list has a pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and gym, but no treatments;
- you want to spend most of the trip downtown: the drive to Union Station is about 28 km by road.
How we reached this view
We do not take free stays and we have not been hosted by the operator. The verdict rests on the operator's own pages, read on 29 October 2026, the 2023 opening announcement, Woodbine's calendar, and the review summaries we list on guest ratings. Where sources disagree we say so rather than choose the flattering number.
